Paul is the Managing Partner of Croatan Investments. Paul has managed and led Croatan Investments and its predecessor firms since 2005. His primary focus is guiding the overall investment strategy and growth plan for the firm.
Paul began his career as a mergers & acquisitions investment banker at UBS in New York City and advised on transactions in the consumer product, food service, agricultural, healthcare and technology industries. Paul then transitioned to Harbor Group International where he became a Vice President of Acquisitions covering multifamily markets across the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Midwest and Texas.
Paul is currently active with the Urban Land Institute (ULI), National Multi-Housing Council (NMHC), Alternative & Direct Investment Securities Association (ADISA), and Association of Asian American Investment Managers (AAAIM). He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University.
Don is a Principal at Croatan Investments. He is involved in the acquisitions, dispositions, and financing of investments. He also focuses on maintaining and expanding institutional equity relationships.
Over the past 20 years, Don has completed more than $2 billion in multifamily transactions across the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Midwest and Texas markets.
Prior to joining Croatan Investments, Don was the Director of Acquisitions at Fogelman Properties. He has also held senior positions at UDR, Archon Residential (a Goldman Sachs Company), and Harbor Group International. Don received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from East Carolina University.
Chris is a Principal at Croatan Investments. He is responsible for executing the investment strategy at the asset level and value creation through direct oversight of property operations and capital programs. He is also intimately involved with acquisitions, investor relations, financings and dispositions.
Prior to joining Croatan Investments, Chris was with Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group where he priced and securitized residential mortgages.
Chris is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), National Multi-Housing Council (NMHC) and various civic organizations. He is a graduate of East Carolina University, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance.
Geoffrey “Geo” Chen
Geoffrey “Geo” Chen is a Principal at Croatan Investments. He is involved in business development and capital sourcing. He started his career in New York City as a currency trader for the Royal Bank of Scotland. He then segued to Credit Suisse in Singapore where he managed the developed markets currency trading business. In 2017, Geo left the banking industry to manage capital through his family office, Stratosphere Trading.
Geo is a member of the Association of Asian American Investment Managers (AAAIM) and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Duke University. He is active in the Asian investment community as well as philanthropy, where he supports causes in environmental conservation and humanitarian aid.
William is the Managing Director of Capital Markets at Croatan Investments. He focuses on originating and structuring capital markets solutions for the firm’s initiatives ranging from equity, fund management, and corporate level debt.
William previously served as the Senior Vice President of Capital Markets for Atlantic Bay Mortgage Company, Senior Vice President at Merrill Lynch, and Partner at independent broker-dealer McKinnon & Company, Inc. Over the course of his 20+ year career he has completed over 65 equity offerings for financial institutions, acted as the sell-side advisor on over 35 M&A transactions, structured CMBS financing for real estate owners, and served as the primary market maker for 300+ OTC listed companies on NASDAQ.
William received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Roanoke College.
Director of National Accounts
Charles is the Director of National Accounts at Croatan Investments. He is focused on business development, sales, and marketing to broker-dealers, registered representatives, and registered investment advisors.
Charles has previously worked with many other real estate firms and has raised capital in the broker-dealer channel for REITs, TICs, DSTs, and other offering types over his 20+ year career. He has developed strong relationships with many financial advisors throughout the nation and started his career in product distribution for John Hancock Mutual Funds.
Charles has been involved with the Alternative & Direct Investment Securities Association (ADISA) since 2003 and attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He holds FINRA licenses 6, 7, 26, 24 and 63. He also hold a Texas real estate license and a Texas auctioneers license.
Vice President of Asset Management
Shannon is the Vice President of Asset Management for Croatan Investments. She is focused on the execution of the business plans and maximizing the performance of assets in the portfolio. She brings over two decades of solid industry experience to the team ranging from real estate development, property management, acquisitions, and sales of commercial, multifamily, and single-family homes.
Prior to joining Croatan Investments, Shannon worked with Related Group, LYND, Bell Partners, Fogelman, and The Franklin Johnston Group.
Shannon received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia.
Vice President of Corporate Strategy
Elizabeth is the Vice President of Corporate Strategy for Croatan Investments. She focuses on exploring opportunities that create value and efficiencies to effectively execute the firm’s business strategy and corporate operations. Her initiatives consist of performance improvement and policy development that enable the firm to maintain the unique and collaborative corporate culture that it fosters. Elizabeth is also an integral part of the company’s investor relations and capital markets teams.
Prior to joining Croatan Investments, Elizabeth dedicated several years to the defense industry providing energy storage and power management solutions for the U.S. military.
Elizabeth is a member of the Association of Asian American Investment Managers (AAAIM) and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Old Dominion University.
Vice President of Construction
Jamie is the Vice President of Construction for Croatan Investments. He focuses on developing and executing capital plans on all of Croatan’s assets. He previously worked at Harbor Group International where he oversaw $70MM in total capital projects. In addition to multifamily assets, he has extensive experience in commercial properties and government contracts.
Jamie was previously licensed as a Class A General Contractor in the State of Virginia and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from East Carolina University.
Elizabeth Moen, CPA
Vice President of Corporate Accounting
Elizabeth is the Vice President of Corporate Accounting for Croatan Investments. She manages corporate accounting and oversees investor distributions for the company.
Prior to joining Croatan Investments, she was a Financial Auditor with PwC, worked in private industry, and was a small business consultant.
Elizabeth is a member of the Association of Asian American Investment Managers (AAAIM) and the Virginia Society of CPAs. She has held her CPA license for over 20 years and received her Bachelor of Accounting and Master of Accountancy with a focus in Information Systems from Virginia Tech.
Cindy Lloyd, CPA
Vice President of Partnership Accounting
Cindy is the Vice President of Partnership Accounting for Croatan Investments. She manages the accounting systems and financial information for the company’s investment partnerships and implements processes to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
Prior to joining Croatan Investments, Cindy was the Manager of Partnership Accounting at Harbor Group International. She also brings years of property accounting experience from her tenure in the multifamily industry.
Cindy is a licensed CPA in the State of Virginia. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting from Capella University.
Ben is a Senior Associate at Croatan Investments. He is responsible for implementing transactions and asset management of the company’s portfolio.
Prior to joining Croatan Investments, Ben was a Senior Acquisitions Analyst and Asset Manager for Cohen Investment Group. Ben was also previously an associate at Wheeler Real Estate where he served as a Property Manager before transitioning to Development Coordinator. In those roles, Ben assisted with a number of redevelopment projects and the managed of a portfolio consisting of 13 shopping centers totaling over a million square feet.
Ben received a dual Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Hospitality & Tourism Management from the College of Charleston.
Jimmy is a Senior Associate at Croatan Investments. He is involved in managing the data analytics and business informatics for the transaction and asset management teams of the company.
Prior to joining Croatan Investments, Jimmy served as an associate appraiser with Hotel and Club Associates where he valued existing hospitality properties and performed feasibility studies for proposed developments across the country. Jimmy’s ability to support the firm’s principals comes from the years of real estate experience he brings to the table—ranging from property management, construction, and appraisals.
Jimmy received his Master’s degree in Business Administration from The Mason School of Business at The College of William & Mary and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business from Old Dominion University.
Veronica is a Coordinator at Croatan Investments. She supports projects related to construction management, asset management and transactions.
Prior to joining Croatan Investments, Veronica worked in the defense industry for over 10 years. Her experience includes accounts payable management, contract administration, office operations, and human resources. Veronica received an Associate of Applied Science degree in Paralegal Studies.
