Paul is the Managing Partner of Croatan Investments. He has been involved in the activities of Croatan Investments and its predecessor firms since 2005. In addition to his leadership and guidance, Paul remains closely involved in all aspects of the company and sets the overall investment strategy and growth plan for the firm. Paul began his career as a mergers & acquisitions investment banker at UBS in New York City. While there, he advised on transactions in the consumer product, food service, agricultural, healthcare and technology industries. Paul then transitioned to Harbor Group International where he became a Vice President of Acquisitions covering multifamily markets across the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Midwest and Texas.
Paul is currently active with the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and National Multi-Housing Council (NMHC). He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University.
Don is a Principal at Croatan Investments. He is involved in the acquisitions, dispositions, and financing of investments. In addition, he also focuses on maintaining and expanding institutional equity relationships.
Over the past 20 years, Don has completed more than $2 billion in multifamily transactions across the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Midwest and Texas markets. Prior to joining Croatan, Don was the Director of Acquisitions at Fogelman Properties. He has also held senior positions at UDR, Archon Residential (a Goldman Sachs Company), and Harbor Group International. Don holds a BS in Business from East Carolina University.
Chris is a Principal at Croatan Investments. He is involved in asset management of the portfolio. Prior to joining Croatan Investments, Chris was with Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group where he priced and securitized residential mortgages.
Chris is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), National Multi-Housing Council (NMHC) and various civic organizations. He is a graduate of East Carolina University, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance.
Shannon is a Vice President of Asset Management for Croatan Investments. She is focused on the execution of the business plans and maximizing the performance of assets in the portfolio. She brings over two decades of solid industry experience to the team ranging from real estate development, property management, acquisitions, and sales of commercial, multifamily, and single-family homes.
Prior to joining Croatan Investments, Shannon worked with Related Group, LYND, Bell Partners, Fogelman, and The Franklin Johnston Group. Shannon received her Bachelors’ Degree from the University of Georgia.
Director of Construction
Jim is the Director of Construction at Croatan Investments. He is responsible for the execution of all property renovations and capital projects. Jim works with owners, architects, engineers, contractors and vendors to oversee project estimation, management, and completion. Prior to joining Croatan Investments, Jim was the Vice President in the construction division of a commercial REIT. While there, he oversaw projects in the retail sector ranging from redevelopments to new construction. From 2011 to 2014, Jim was a Construction Project Manager for Dollar Tree Stores, Inc overseeing new store construction throughout the Southeast. In this time, he oversaw the completion of over 150 Dollar Tree Inc. stores.
Jim has also run his own commercial contracting firm focusing on projects throughout Southeast Virginia. He is a licensed “Class A” Contractor in the State of Virginia and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Hampden-Sydney College.
Chief Financial Officer
Elizabeth is the Chief Financial Officer for Croatan Investments. She is responsible for the accounting management of the company and works closely with the firm’s investors, property management companies, bankers, and tax accountants. She started her career as a Financial Auditor with Price Waterhouse Coopers, and segued into consulting. In tandem with Croatan Investments she is the Principal and Owner of Equilibrium Accounting Services, and for almost a decade, Elizabeth continues to provide private accounting to her valued clients.
Elizabeth received her Bachelors of Accounting and Masters of Accountancy with a focus on Information Systems from Virginia Tech. She is a member of the Virginia Society of CPAs and has held her CPA license for over 20 years.
Elizabeth is a Project Manager at Croatan Investments and ensures rehab programs are executed effectively within schedule and budget. In addition to program management, Elizabeth plays a vital role in process improvement, estimating and purchasing, vendor relations, and the provision of executive support to the Principals at Croatan.
Prior to joining Croatan Investments, Elizabeth dedicated several years to the defense industry managing contracts in energy management solutions for the U.S. military. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Old Dominion University.
Jimmy is an Associate at Croatan Investments and is involved in transactions and asset management for the company. Jimmy’s ability to support the firm’s principals comes from the years of real estate experience he brings to the table—ranging from property management, construction, to appraisals. In his most recent position, he was an associate appraiser with Hotel and Club Associates. While there, he valued existing hospitality properties and performed feasibility studies for proposed hospitality developments across the country.
Jimmy received an MBA from The College of William & Mary’s Raymond A. Mason School of Business and BS in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business from Old Dominion University.
Angus is an Associate at Croatan Investments and is involved in transactions and asset management for the company. Prior to joining Croatan Investments, he served as a Senior Analyst on Cushman & Wakefield’s Research & Consultancy team in Hong Kong. While there, he focused on providing reports and research on the residential, office, retail and industrial sectors and providing advisory services to financial service firms and developers. Angus has also worked for Smithfield Foods, Inc. as an operations analyst.
Angus received an MBA from The College of William & Mary’s Raymond A. Mason School of Business and a BS in Business Administration with a double major in Finance and Business Analytics from Old Dominion University.
